Oh yes. I'm a stickler for them, but I was wondering if there was a bit more information on digital submission guidelines.

People tend to over-think it. If anything became clear in the old submission thread, it's the following: If you can't put together a submission based on the guidelines they provide, you probably can't put together a comic worth publishing. And if you submit a great comic book that they want to publish, they will not turn it down because you made a small mistake in the submission.

Thanks for the prompt reply Adam.

What would be a small file size for a fully illustrated 158 page graphic novel? I had my letterer create an 34 mb file that was a really good quality mock up, that I was happy with on CS4, but once we finished the final revisions he couldn't create the same pdf file again. He switched to CS 5 and the smallest size he can put together is a 34 mb file and it's distorted. It doesn't have retain the higher resolution of the original file. I had a professional print house put together a 47 mb version of it, interestingly enough it doesn't have as good of a quality as the initial 34 mb file that was put together on CS4.

I really want to email all 158 pages and the cover, but stupid emails have attachment limits. Any suggestions?

I'd suggest printing it out and mailing it in.

Thank you so much for the clarification Erik. Good thing I checked the forums. I was about to deliver it via a yousendit link in my cover letter :). Fedex it's.

Watch out! Spelling Erik's name improperly on any correspondence is grounds for immediate shredding of your submission. ;)

Ha! I have been obsessing over the submission package addressed to certain Eric Stephenson, the other spelling variations of the said name stopped existing in my little paranoid world. Still fixed it though and thanks for the heads up.

It's important to keep in mind--we aren't looking for ways to disqualify outstanding submissions. We want to publish great books. Show us that you can do great comics and we'll gladly welcome you aboard.

Howdy fellas - new kid on the block here!

Apologies for necroposting here (is that what the cool kids call it?) but I have a query that isn't clearly answered by the Submissions guidelines.

I'm a freelance letterer, and had intended for some time to submit samples to Image. However, a number of prospective clients have asked me in the past to send links to samples via email as opposed to actual files.

So my question is, which do Image prefer to receive? Links or sensibly sized jpegs?

I ask because I have some samples here that I CAN'T send links to, as they're not displayed anywhere / so far unpublished. But I have been given the all clear to use them in any printed submissions or as part of a batch of files to send via email.

Possibly this is a dumb question, but I'm keen to send a submission in a fashion that Image approves of.
(I'd sooner ask a silly question and look like a fool than do things the wrong way and spoil things because of it.)

Thanks in advance!

I understand you like to send samples of your lettering? As far as I know Image does not hire individual letterers (or artist/colorists/writer), only publishes complete projects.
