 Every time I try to pick it up, I see Liefeld's name and start having some weird 90's flashbacks of Captain America with breasts and some really strange anatomy.

Read issue 4 over lunch. I enjoyed it quite a bit mostly because I'm really enjoying the FBI chick. My thoughts on the series so far:

Pros:
- Excellent dialogue
- Strong character building. They are really fleshing out these people and they are pretty much all interesting.
- Good art. Inked and colored a little dark for my tastes but that's par for the course in this genre/type of book.
- I feel like something cool is building up. That once the cast gets together and we start seeing some heists that there will be real payoff.

Cons:
- Not much action so far. The focus on characters hasn't left much room for actual thieving to go on. The heist scene and auto thieft lesson in issue 1 were probably the most dynamic scenes in the series so far but we having seen much more of that kind of thing.
- The focus on building up the cast members means that we don't see other cast members for awhile. The cool apprentice thief chick from the first issue? Haven't seen her since issue 2 for example.

Overall I'd give the book a B towards a B+ so far and I think it will get better once they are done introducing cast members. I think Kirkman fans that weren't gripped by this to start with should consider checking it out again when the trade comes out because I think getting a big chunk of the book at once will make it more enjoyable.

Issue 5 might have been the best issue so far. So more back story (kinda sad) and they finally start setting up the whole thief of thieves concept. Kind of a dick move to sell out your friends (especially after you've already backed out on them once) but I guess you do what you have to do for your kids. Strong dialogue as always. Really enjoying this book.

It will probably actually read better in trade. I'd definitely recommend checking it out.
