I wholeheartedly disagree. I say legalize EVERYTHING and let evolution do it's damn job. Survival of the fittest, my brothers. If you over dose, oh well, fuck you. Your own fault for fucking with hardcore drugs. Under this theory, there would be many less "retards and thieves".

Honestly... alot of the appeal would be gone if ALL drugs were legal. And as long as it is regulated like alcohol I dont see huge problems with it...

See my feeling is the people that really really want to use hard drugs are going to go right a head and use them. Legal or not. Allocate some percentage of the legal drug sales for education and rehab plus launch a huge information campaign and then let people decide for themselves.

We have huge problems with "The War On Drugs" from over crowded jails to lives that get almost destroyed by getting caught with a large bag of weed. I worked with a guy that got caught with a backpack sized bag of weed. The dude only got baked on his days off and he was sober when he left his house. He bought the weed for a party he was having with a bunch of friends. All of them were sleeping over until they were sober enough to drive so what is the big deal? The dude got caught, lost his job, went to jail, lost his girl friend and lost his parental rights to his 14 year old son. WTF!

Our society pays massive amounts of money for law enforcement and detention because of illegal drugs and the problem hasn't been fixed.

I am not saying people should get free passes for committing crimes while high, in fact make the penalties harsher for the idiots that won't use responsibly. The problem with the current system is that is doesn't stop drug trafficing, doesn't stop drug using, it just is an excuse for putting minorities in prison instead of colleges.

The problem with the current system is that the for-profit prison industry spends obscene amounts of money on lobbyists and campaign contributions to keep marijuana illegal.

The more people busted for a harmless plant, the more money the companies who run prisons make, and the more they can funnel into politics to safeguard their investment.

It's not going to change any time soon. Too many people stand to lose too much money.

That's a really good point. The prison industry is enormous and there is tons of money for corporations to make building and maintaining the facilities to house inmates, various security technologies and inmate healthcare (huge bills for top of the line care paid for by tax payers). There are way more powerful parties with influence to keep the status quo than possible change created by the allure of any tax money and new businesses in the U.S. from regulated and fully legalized marijuana.

It's not just dope, either. The for-profit prison industry spent something close to $100m in lobbyists and PAC contributions in Arizona to push through their immigration laws. Stop more people, catch more illegals, they go to prison... and the state pays for more inmates. It's an expense that'll pay for itself in a very short time.

But bringing it back to drugs...

Even if we didn't legalize hard drugs, legalizing dope alone would end the drug war by cutting the nuts off the drug lords. Pot is their bread and butter--it's what finances the production and distribution of the hard stuff. The money they bring in from weed completely minimizes the risk they take when they import and sell coke and heroin and associated drugs. Without weed money to finance it, the costs associated with production/distribution of the harder stuff would soar to levels that would essentially make it unfeasible to produce.

But we live in a dumb country.

I have a feeling that Euge's comic counterpart will be making a marijuana farm instead of making bullets.

I'm sure Gregory and Jesus let that shit grow. The former was apparently so blazed he didn't even notice Rick was missing a hand! (that got me laughin' hard yesterday)

That was hilarious. Jesus was stoned out of his mind too when he said Gregory's name was Kenneth. Hilltop the most mellow community of the zombie apocalypse.
