I hated The Road due to the lack of quotation marks.

I liked both of them essentially the same. The sense of despair was presented really well in both mediums. Obviously there was some cool stuff in the book that was left out of the movie, but the things that were included were done quite well.

Well the tie breaker has to be, does the movie have a good nude scene in it? ;)

Don't ever pick up Blindness then  While I didn't mind the lack of conversation distinction in The Road, Blindness has been such a chore to read thanks to a similar problem. There's hardly any distinction in this book. No quotation marks, no paragraph breaks, not even any periods to breaks up sentences. All conversations read like this (not an actual example from the book):

They turned to each other, What do you want to do today, Let's go to the park, I havent been there for a while, I don't like the park, too many hobos, Good point, he sighed, A movie sounds much better.

It makes me feel like I'm walking through a swamp with bricks on my feet haha

I just finished The Great God Pan by Arthur Machen. I am working my way through his stufff. It is WW1 fantasy stuff. He was an influence on H. P. Lovecraft along with Lord Dunsany.

That sounds extremely interesting to me.

Machem uses kind of a journalistic style, his protagonists usually hear stories and rumors of something and then they work on connecting all of the events together. Sometimes they investigate some strange occurence. The fantasy is usually fairly subtle. He doesn't hit you over the head with cloaks of invisibility or lighting shooting out of your hands. The Terror is another good book by Machem. It is hard to talk about him with out giving to much away because part of the fun of the books is finding out what really is going on.

If I were going to start reading Machem I would start with The Terror. I thought it was a little better than The Great God Pan but Pan was pretty good as well.

Lord Dunsany is kind of heavy on the fantasy. Wizards and unicorns run around his books. But he kind of gives you the sense of being in another realm.
