Supreme 63 was... interesting. Its cool that, as a new reader to Supreme of any sort, I didn't have any trouble sussing out what was going on (though it helps to have a good understanding of traditional super-hero tropes). All the visual references and creativity of Daxia proved to be very fun. I hope Daris Duck has more to do in the near future. He's awesome.

I'd like to see the original Moore script someday, just to see the side by side comparison between script and finished work. I think (fear?) a lot of people are going to react by suggesting that Erik edited the script significantly to make it his own. But based on the subject matter, and how Alan Moore writes when he deals with that subject matter, there isn't a lot of difference between Moore and Larsen's writing when they're in full-on homage/comic-self-awareness mode. Which is pretty much why Erik was the best possible choice for resurrecting Supreme IMO. I rather can't wait to see where the next issue will take us.

The script is DENSE. Erik did a hell of a job with it. I don't envy anyone drawing from one of Moore's scripts.

Not a word was changed. Not a word was added or taken away.

I haven't given myself much time to absorb it but at this moment, this was actually my least favorite issue of all of the new Extreme relaunches. There I said it.

I think it was my least favorite mostly because it's starting off at the end of a previous story arc; whereas the other relaunches started fresh and untied to anything previously. Because of Moore's previous ongoing story this issue tend to be mostly about Darius Dax. We see very little of Supreme. There's a lot going on in this issue, and with most Moore books I have to read them a few times for it to all sink in. This first issue didn't get me excited about the Supreme character and instead I felt like i was slogging through back story to get to the "real" relaunch in issue 64.

BUT... now that everything is set up, I'm really looking forward to Erik taking over and seeing how he deals with Moore's cliffhanger.

The artwork was a really cool amalgam of Erik and Cory. I could definitely tell they were Erik's breakdowns and can see Cory's style shine through on the finishes.

The one thing that bugs me is the Supreme gold logo on the comic. Please update it! It just comes of muddy or pixelated looking when printed. It just doesn't look professional to me. Am I the only asshole that noticed this nitpick?

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the next issue. Maybe it will grow on me after rereading this a couple more times and reading or hearing other fans opinions.

I agree to a lot of that. Supreme is a weird one. Unlike the other series, this one isn't getting a fresh start. It continues from the previous issues and wasnt even written by the relaunch writer. It's a strange one.

Next issue really is the start of the new series. Erik's story begins in 64 so that's what I'm most excited about.

Having said that, this issue is still fun. Moore's run was a fun run and I'm glad we got to see it finished, if not concluded from a story stand point.

We get to see the new art team before the true relaunch and it's a good one. Cory does a great job finishing off Erik's rough pencils and I think this fusion will please a lot of people. I enjoyed 63 but I cannot wait for 64.

This was a good new comics day, nothing but Image comics! Chew #25, Hell Yeah #2, Invincible #90, Savage Dragon #179, and Supreme #63 all came out. Every one of those comics ended on a cliffhanger too!

As for Supreme in particular, that was a hell of a ride. I bought a few issues of Supreme in the 90s (back when he was beating up Thor and stealing his hammer) but I had no trouble following the new stuff, in spite of all the alternate version craziness going on. I agree that Supreme had a noticeable lack of presence in the story, but villains are often more interesting anyway. Man, what a hell, of a cliffhanger too! I can't wait to see where Erik takes it from there, though judging by his comments in the interview about the violent Supreme of the 90s I do have a guess...

I thought the art was great, but the story didn't exacly knock my socks off. (Good news is that SD 179 knocked my socks out a few miles)

Wasn't bad my any means, and was pretty straight foward and this is coming from someone who never read the Supreme run. Moore is usually good, but again this didn't do that much for me.

I'm more excited about the second issue as it's Erik in full throttle. Can't wait for that.

Well I'm a huge fan of the supreme run done by moore. I actually read fairly little of old school supreme to be honest. For me this issue was insanely sweet. Darius Dax (as you've guessed was basically Supreme's Lex Luther). Moore's run had really just introduced Daxia and it seemed like seeing the Supremacy (where all Supreme's go when their worlds end and are revised) and Daxia (where apparently all Darius Daxes go when revised) clash was inevitable.

I knew the second Daxia was introduced back then that this was coming and OH HELL YEAH! HERE IT COMES!!

So we've basically got the equivalent of every Lex Luther variation possible smashing into a war with every Superman possible. And this is in the hands of Erik now (who we KNOW can write an epic full scale ass kicking war).

Basically I'm in hog heaven. I know old school supreme will return and frankly I'm glad. Although I liked Alan Moore's supreme it's funny how much praise he got for basically going full on Superman on his Supreme run. So to go back to the "asshole" Supreme of the Liefield era is a good move. That said I'm extremely grateful to see things wrap up this way!!!

Enough about the writing though: Cory you did very good. This job would have been a nightmare undertaking. But you kicked ass on it. I loved all the easter eggs in the comic shop. Also the full on nods to Marvel characters (I mean.. the coloring was even the same ha ha).

I can't wait for the next issue guys!! Fantastic job!

Given that the Supremacy is going to be stormed by the Daxes I sincerely hope that "The End" makes his way from the hell of mirrors. I have no idea if Alan Moore even had an idea of what he'd do with that character, but that was too cool a lead to be completely thrown out.

Or maybe not... I dunno.. Just saying my mind is reeling with possibilities.

Yeah, The End was only ever seen in the shadows on a throne or something. I'd definitely like to see him return (and the other Mirror villains).
