If that means we'll be getting Savage Dragon in the future I'm more than willing to pay that. Honestly I hardly ever look at the price of a book.

Same here. If I want a book, I'll buy it.

Not complaining. Just noticing, as the last issue, and the cover above, still say 3.50.

I'd pay 5 bucks or more for SD.

If it's a book I like price doesn't matter.

However, if it's a book I'm already reading and it's starting to go south, price will factor in for sure. I'm not going to keep paying $3.99 for a book that's only so-so. $1.99, I'd probably keep going with it for a bit longer.

I never (or very rarely) pay more than $3.50 for a normal sized comic. I guess Savage Dragon will be an exception. I wish it didn't have to be that way, but based on sales, I can see why he would have to do it.

If the rest of the Image books follow suit, I will definitely be dropping some books.

I'm honestly surprised it's taken Erik so long to bump the price.

I can't see Walking Dead increasing in price anytime soon as its numbers keep going up. Books like Invincible will probably go up soon as while they are great books, they aren't exactly setting the world on fire.

I'm just really curious, as to how much longer this book is going to be around? I mean the price is going up, it's been shipping almost bi monthly. And I see very little discussion going on, when a new issue does come out. Does anyone have information on the monthly sales figures? I have been with SD since the mini, but to be honest. The late shipping of this book recently, has allowed me to explore other books. Now I'm afraid I might be losing interest in this book. :(

Not to speak for Erik -- but I think SD will be around for as long as it can, and that requires some combination of sales to make it sustainable and interest on Erik's part to keep telling Dragon tales. If it keeps selling and he's still got stories to tell, then there's no telling how long it could last. It may beat Cerebus yet.

The price going up is unfortunate, but necessary. And you can take some solace in the fact that the last time the price went up was nearly 50 issues ago. In terms of sales, the last year's worth of issues were still firmly within the top 300, which is good. And in terms of being late -- it's really just the latest issue; the book has been out mostly monthly for a while now (give or take a couple weeks' drift).

And honestly, I think the discussion around here still hasn't recovered from the Image forums having problems and then being relaunched. A HUGE number of people dropped off when the boards got all buggy, and even more users never returned after the new boards were in place.

Now, all that said -- I would of course like to see the title doing better. From time to time in the past when Dragon has gotten behind, Erik's played catch-up by kicking out an issue every two weeks, and that generally helps get some enthusiasm going again in the comics community (as well as getting the book back on schedule). I won't be surprised if Erik does the bi-weekly thing again at some point. But beyond that, all we can do is keep trying to spread the word to the uninitiated and keep ordering the book and so forth (as everyone should do with any book they want to stick around).

The title seems to have settled to the 4,000 to 5,000 range and seem like they're hanging there.

Last April's sales number was 4,614; March 2011 was 4,853 (no April issue it seems); April 2010 was 5,359; April 2009 was 6,058.

So, it's slightly less year over year... but still within the same basic range.

You have been with the book since the mini and the late shipping for only a few months has made you start to loose interest? What happened the year where we only had two issues?

Eriks had a lot going on this year with the move and whatnot, so I think a gap in time between issues is acceptable. The dude had has been doing this book for 20 years, so a bit of patience on our parts shouldn't be an issue.

Still, I don't want to get into the whole discussion of the comic industry as that could go on forever. Recently John Bryne went back to doing a super hero book which was meant to be an ongoing as long as sales permit. Well, apparently sales weren't great and it's only going to be 4 issues for now. It may not have been the most original idea, but it was a new super hero book which is actually something that is nowhere near as common as it once was.

It just seems that not as many peope are reading comics and that just kinda makes me sad.
