That's a really swanky cover. For... a lot of reasons really. Classic homage cover, Supreme V. Omni-Man (May I be right in suspecting that this fight will take place before Invincible #1? Since Supreme has a bit of a time gap between when it went on indefinite hiatus, and what constitutes 'Now' in comic time; it makes the most logical sense), and the fact that the depowered Supremes will be sticking around for the foreseeable future (Mouse and Lion Supremes are the best Supremes). Just everything is awesome about this cover.

While I'll be sticking with the Larsen cover myself, any chance at a Cory Walker or Ryan Ottley alternate cover?

I'd say the fight takes place in the present. The depowered Supremes are all there... Unless they travel back in time... Or it's classic Larsen and a cover just representing stuff rather than strict canon.

What Jim meant was that current Supreme issues could very well take place during Bill Clinton's administration, because that's where we were at, when Alan's run stopped.

This is something that could be fixed easily with a "15 years later" or two "7 years later" captions in upcoming issues. Erik's done stuff like that before, and it worked.

I'm just saying it makes more sense (to me) for a Supreme/Omni-Man fight to take place 10 years ago real time. Since that would be when Omni-Man was a premier Earth super-hero, before the events in early days Invincible exiled him off world. So I have a hunch we won't be seeing any 'X Years Latter' captions any time soon (and, actually, kinda hope not). But I could be wrong.

True, but Supreme doesn't take place in real time. Marvel changes real world presidents without giving it much thought. Same with The Simpsons. I don't think Erik needs to worry about stuff like that. If the president doesn't show up, Erik doesn't need to refer to that.

No. It takes place now. Most Image titles are not set in real time and Supreme is no exception. The idea with this cover was to have the classic costumes--and I can understand that throwing folks off.

Not a bad idea.

Get variants from both! I know I'd pick them up. I'd especially love to see Ryan drawing Supreme.

Agreed, but I just thought of something : while Supremouse is from some cartoon continuity and it makes sense to have him stay a mouse while depowered (because it's his natural state)... IIRC, Lion Supreme was actually 50s or 60s Supreme, a guy who would always turn into some animal by chance when exposed to Supremium. I remember there was also a panel in Moore's first issue in which he turned into an insect-headed man. Does it make sense that he stays a lion-man after being exposed to the depowering Supremium? I'm not even sure his mutation into a lion was supposed to be permanent.

EDIT: Yeah, he was 50s Supreme and was exposed to violet supremium...

Yeah, he was supposed to keep randomly changing. Maybe he went back to the lion form enough times that it became his natural state through comic book logic?

It could be kinda fun in a Hamburger-Head kind of way if he was now just a poor schmuck with no special powers, but who would still randomly turn into a lion-man, an ant-man, a monkey or whatever, always at the most awkward moments...

Correct me wrong, but isn't it the first time Erik homages a cover which was not created by him in the first place?

Man, that's just too fucking awesome. Larsen on Supreme is the balls.

Also, I recently drew something like that but it's nowhere near Erik's level of awesome...
