Where is all of this "would you be cool with book X being reprinted by company Y" going?

Ok. Scratch the part about the issues of the SD ongoing series being included.

Would be you cool if Michael Dooney's two Dragon/TMNT crossover one-shots, and maybe the Dragon/TMNT story from that mini-comic that was inserted into a line of action figures from Playmates Toys, and possibly the scene from the SD/Destroyer Duck one-shot where the Turtles fight "Specimin Q" (none of your characters appear in that short sequence, but you did ink that comic, so you may feel somewhat protective of it) were reprinted by IDW?

I can understand your reservations about Dragon and co being showcased/mentioned on the book's cover/back-cover copy/advertisements/solicitation copy, especially since the Turtles are now the property of Viacom, a mega-conglomerate which isn't necessarily creator-friendly, but I think it could essentially serve as free advertising that could potentially make a fair amount of people aware of Dragon. But I'd guess it would come down to how fair the deal was.

I'd rather have *them* give Erik permission to use it. It drives me crazy that because her story plays out in the Mirage part of the crossover, Virago is just this unknown chick with a crazy hairdo who peeps on Dragon and the Turtles in the Image collections.

Or maybe... future collections could have a one-page summary of their meeting, like what Erik did with Wildstar in "A Force to be reckoned with"...?

I'd like to see that too, frankly, but, alas, Erik has stated in the past that he's not interested in seeing Dooney's SD/TMNT one-shots included in the SD Ultimate Collections.

Tell you what--let's let them ask about all this rather than have me answer any of that here. Thus far nobody has showed any interest in reprinting the books. And really--you're not negotiating a contract here so this is somewhat pointless.

I bought Freak Force 1-18 for 15 € (around 18 $?), and both Deadly duo Minis. There is no Trade out there, is it?

And then there is a Mini Series of Freak Force out there, i think. Is it collected?

How many Super Patriot Series are out? I found 4...

I cant find informations on Dragonwiki about that.

The Dragon series list should show all of that. If not:

There was a 3-issue Freak Force mini. It was not collected, neither were any of the Deadly Duo series. There was a trade solicited for the 18 issue Freak Force series but it was cancelled.

There were indeed four SuperPatriot minis. The 2nd (Liberty & Justice) and 3rd (America's Fighting Force) were collected in trades.

Ah, thanks for the info.

Does the first mini of Super Patroit got a specific title? Like War on Terror, for an instance...

Nope, it's simply called "SuperPatriot."

Erik:

Have any of the trading card companies asked about doing a new trading card set for SD, ala Marvel Masterpieces where you could get a lot of sketchcards made by different artists?

I don't think you've done trading cards since the early nineties, when Wildstorm had a set?

Are comic/super-hero trading cards even a 'thing' any more? I thought the bottom fell out of that the same time as the collector's boom imploded.

No. None of them have asked. Do they even exist anymore? Are there Marvel cards? DC cards? I haven't seen them in years.

Basically, Bobby Curnow at IDW mentioned they need to work out legal issues concerning guest appearances in TMNT vol. 3 (i.e. by Dragon, Vanguard, and co) in order to reprint those issues, so I decided to ask Erik if he'd be cool with that. But, like Erik said, I'm not working for IDW and these sorts of legal matters shouldn't be discussed in a casual public forum, so it's best to drop it (though I still want all that stuff reprinted, but I digress).

Following my question about the guys who did the back-up stories in the first few issues of the SD ongoing getting royalties, I have a few more questions of that kind for Erik:

1) Does Mike Mignola get any royalties for the books that collected SD #34-35 (SD/Hellboy, SD: Terminated and SD Archives Vol. 2)? I mean he did serve as a dialogue coach for Hellboy and all, or did you buy out his contributions to those issues or did work out some other type of deal?

2) Do any of the writers and artists who contributed to the SD Team-Ups and Twisted SD Funnies trades get any royalties from those books? And for that matter, did Jason Pearson and Karl Story get royalties from the Dragon: Blood & Guts TPB?
