I just had this nutty idea. Let me throw it against the wall.

Savage Dragon Annuals!

Okay, we all know Erik has enough trouble getting Savage Dragon out 12 times a year, let alone expecting to produce an extra-sized annual. But what if once a year there was an special stand-alone annual issue where creators who are not Erik could write/draw Savage Dragon stories? Either as a anthology style smorgasbord, or with one lead story followed by a handful of back-ups. Get some A-List creators involved and you could potentially expose their regular fans to the world of Savage Dragon, and by proxy raise interest in the main book.

Just an idea that suddenly came to me.

I love it!

Public Enthusiasm. This will always be the best way to help! Spread the word and reach out to other fans of Savage Dragon. When someone says "Do they still make that?" they're leaving themselves open for a quick pitch. LOL "Yes they do. It's my favorite comic. You should definitely give it a try! It's available digitally too now" etc.).

Click those share buttons over at Dragonfan! Listen to the podcast and review it on Itunes!

These are free and easy!!

Now project wise: I would love to see a dragon annual with top name talent. Seems like something we couldn't really help make happen though...

What about a dragon fanthology created by online comic artists and given away for free as a downloadable pdf? (or viewable online.. or both?). I know alot of comic artists will do stuff for free just for the exposure. And while I doubt it's something we could drum up quick (you are basically asking folks to do stuff for free), I think it's something that could get attention.

I know similar fan projects given away for free have helped generate interest in various communities and properties. Fans of the Snes game Earthbound made a fanthology that was hundreds of pages of original art and stories and that was all over the video game news blogs. Similarly the online chip tune community OC REMIX will gather up cover songs from a single game or series and release tribute albums for free (which gets the artists involved and the OC REMIX attention).

If you think something like this would be worth while I'm in a webcomic group on Facebook that's 500+ members strong. I could ask around.

Also the status of the 'hey savage dragon is awesome you should read it' image I was working on is that I keep getting swamped with commissions and paid work. :( But I want it finished soon.. It's been embarrassingly delayed at this point.

I liked the idea of Hanzo's flyers. Did you ever decide on a final revision for them?

Please, please, please, write a review! It will help boost our exposure on iTunes!

if you don't know how to go about writing a review in Itunes go here for a tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFDNcGiP ... re=related

We would be very grateful to the rest of the Savage Dragon community if you could take this step to show your support! We have fun doing these Fincasts, but it does take time and effort. If you enjoy the podcast, take a minute and write us a review! It would mean a lot to us!

Yeah what happened there?

Not even remotely possible. The sales at this point make the book a bit better than a vanity book but not much better and big talent seldom works for free.

I'd suspected as much (but hate to hear it anyway). I'd like to pursue my free fanthology idea. I think if I could get enough submissions it'd be a cool thing to have out there.
