Sooo happy I got both issues on release day! Had to switch LCSs to do it...but I did.

Great story, and great stuff continues to come out of Shadowline!!

Thanks for sticking with us (as always) Ed.

I, too, am loving Peter Panzerfaust.

Read Peter Panzerfaust #3 over lunch - it was good to see the story moving along at a pretty fast clip and to see the "Kapitan" Hook character and Wendy finally appear. #3 showed the Lost Boys survive dangerous situations that they shouldn't, at least not all of them. Getting shot at point blank by Nazis is a situation that doesn't really carry good survival odds. I wonder how long this will hold and how the group will react if/when reality catches up with them and they start to die...

Yes. Yes I have.

Click if you dare, fellow forumers... some would consider this spoilery (based off what Kurtis just said, it's not one of those "red herring" solicitations): http://www.imagecomics.com/comics/4858/Peter-Panzerfaust-5

Hopefully I can track down 1,2, and 3 soon. My LCS had #3 up and I passed it up because I hadn't read 1 or 2. I need to get into this.

Issue #4

Picked up my copy of #4 last night! What a terrific story. Even though this issue had less action that the first three, the quiet moments made the last page even more touching than if it had been all out action. I'm really loving this book, and it's on the top of my read pile every month.

I liked how you explained how the stuff that happened with Wendy and Peter in the woods could be in the story, very believable and made the scene stronger. Giving us a glimpse of the small amount of happiness they were able to have at the farmhouse really made the last bit hit home for me. Fantastic writing!!

And Tylers art is great! I'm loving the style on the book.

Ok I guess that's enough gushing. Great episode in the story, great job!!

And I'll copy/paste into the Shadowline forums like Ed does 8-)

Finally finally got to Peter Panzerfaust #4. Wow, just wow. I started reading the issue and had to consult issue #3 to double check if I missed anything and I didn't. I had to remind myself that this story is told in a series of vignettes and there will be gaps in detail from one issue to the next, not a huge deal. It's a lot like Band of Brothers in this regard. Once I recognized that some time had passed with content untold between issues, I really latched onto this one.

This issue was by far the best so far in this series. It's the installment that got closest to the kind of raw and tragic emotional impact that we saw in Green Wake. It really felt like an abundance of heart went into the storytelling in this issue. Of course, unlike Green Wake, the only monsters we see here are in the form of tanks and heavily armed soldiers that are fighting with children caught in the crossfire. The scenes shared with Peter and Wendy were really touching and even though we haven't seen much panel time shared between the two, it still felt special. Tyler Jenkins' art again was very unique and creates a world that is unmistakably Peter Panzerfaust when you look at it.

Peter Panzerfaust #4 really had that trademark Kurtis Wiebe charm all over it. While I already enjoyed it, I'm liking Peter Panzerfaust more than ever now.
