I had to bring back the dead thread in honor of Jerry Robinson. I got to meet him a couple of times and he was youthful and fun long past an age at which I suspect I'll be spitting oatmeal at nurses.

This was a VERY sad one to see him pass but also sad that the number of people that I saw post various places that had no clue who he was..... great, creative talent

And Christopher Hitchens too. Hopefully that's the end of updating this thread for awhile.

98 years old... that's pretty impressive.

It's cool that he got to see Captain America on the big screen in a portrayal befitting the character - I wonder what he thought of the movie?

I hope so. This seems to have been an especially bad year (although I probably say that every year), and it only seems to get worse as Christmas approaches for some reason. :(

John Severin apparently died a couple of days ago and the news was overshadowed by the death of some singer. Severin's comic book work was amazingly detailed and gritty. If you can't get your hands on the work he did in his prime, at least pick up his recent work on some of the Hellboy Universe titles from Dark Horse. Dude just kept right on working.

I loved his work in Two-Fisted Tales, Frontline Combat and his warren work like Creepy and Blazing Combat.

Star Wars artist Ralph McQuarrie has gone away. Look at this paper bag: http://www.sfpaperbacks.com/display.php?book=131

Fucking gorgeous.
