Alex, what did you think of The Flash?
I was disappointed. I think the Bilson run just ruined me on the character. Most people seemed to like really the art. I thought it was ok.
I think it's among the densest, most well-designed, and best-thought-out books in DC's relaunch. Manapul is doing some terrific stuff that evokes the Silver Age without seeming retro and he can actually write, which is more than I can say for most of the artists-turned-writer/artists that are currently creating books there.
I liked #2 a bunch. The whole sequence with the augmented cognition was a lot of fun and required readers to pay attention. It used the art to tell a story. And there's an intriguing mystery building throughout this arc so far.
I just don't see how he can keep up this pace (pun intended), keep the book monthly, and maintain the quality.
Anyway, sorry it's not your cup of tea, man, but I dig it.

Well, you were right. I re-read #1. This time, I got over the fact that Wally isn't the Flash and I took my time with reading it. It was much better on a second read.
Then, I read #2 and it was much better than #1. I took my time with looking over the pages. There were tons of great storytelling pages. The title pages have been really awesome and the augmented cognition pages had me flipping back and forth. I love those kinds of books.
I'm back on The Flash bandwagon.
