I know MJS has done it to some of his books. What do you think of this for binding:

I just finished up Christos Gage/Mike Costa's initial run on GI Joe: Cobra (the first 4 issues miniseries, the one-shot, and the 13 issue ongoing). WOW that was amazing stuff plus I loved the Antonio Fuso covers.

I think this is the same 4 issue run that I read. Did you read the one shot with the twin brothers? What they did with that issue was awesome.

Yes, there was a 4 issue mini, a one shot, and then a second 4 issue mini which expanded into a 13 issue series. This was a whole different take - reminded me a lot of Brubaker's Sleeper only without the superpowers.

Need to get to the LCS but I started going through my trades and such and realized I had a lot that I hadn't read yet.

I just finished up JLA: Age of Wonder and I really liked it. I love the Golden Age type stories and this one was well done. The art was nice, and the story was interesting too. I recommend it if you get a chance to read it, and you like a different take on heroes.

And I started JLA: Gatekeeper last night. Strange tale that seems to wander a little bit when dealing with the characters, but it's been ok through the first trade.

I'm reading all this stuff about the DCnU. I for one am a little excited for some of the titles. Others not so much. But to read all the stuff that is being written about DC is kind of odd. Read an article today that basically said that since everything is changing you can't go back and read your favorite stories anymore because they won't matter. Huh? What?

I don't get that argument. Not even a little bit, and I'm big on continuity in story telling. To a point anyway. If you want to kill off Gwen Stacy, then don't turn around and bring her back 4 issues later. But if there is some obscure reference to blue kryptonite that gives Superman steroids induced rage and it was used in a story and nobody uses it for years, don't pitch a fit that someone forgets it, and says the next time its pink kryptonite.

Plus I don't get all the fanboy rage over a company deciding to do something with it's property. Maybe I'm just not that connected or something. ::shrug:: I guess that would be like us going off on Alex for killing Elvis. But at least in Proof, Elvis' death had a purpose and ramifications to the story. And I don't forsee Alex bringing him back to life. I'm still sad that I know that Autumn bites the bullet in the end, but I don't feel entitled to tell Alex and Riley how they are messing up their story by killing off characters.

I guess that's what it boils down too. Really. Fanboys just can't let go of their sense of entitlement. And if if bothers you that much, here's a hint. Don't buy it.

My two cents.

Yeah, that drives me crazy. And I'm sure the folks who created those issues love to hear it too.

I mean, unless Jim Lee and Dan Didio come into my home and physically destroy all of the DC comics that I own, those stories will still matter . . . to me.

Exactly. I personally I think some of the better stories recently have actually been the out-of-continuity ones.

It seems to be the fans that are complaining about "stories that don't matter" but here is the thing --- they are made up stories in the first place. There are stories that are out of continuity that I love and stories in continuity that I love. I just want good stories and good art. Comic fans are going to kill the industry they seem to love because of their complaining and bitching about everything.

Yep...but here's what I have found, even though people are very vocal about changes in their favorite books. They will still go back and buy the next issue. Not all the time mind you, but a good number of them will.

But yeah I'm in the "I just want good stories" camp. Even though in the past I have dropped books because of stories I didn't like....I'm looking at you Clone Saga.

I have gone back and forth on the DC thing. I was going to drop down just to Justice League as my only DC book but a few books have kept my interest peaked enough that I will pickup more of the #1's and see what they are like.

Read JLA: Gatekeeper last night. What a strange little tale. It was enjoyable, but was definitely out there.
