Most awkward convention story I can think of would be Alex Ross, who was crazy busy at NYCC that year. I mean it just didn't feel like I was meeting a guy who'd been responsible for a lot of my love of the industry as the teenager, it felt like he brushed me off a bit.
I like making new friends or seeing old ones at conventions. Like it always seems that if I don't find them, guys like Tim Seeley or David Hine find me.
My favorite moment of NYCC this year was picking up my press badge from a friend and then walking the city that Thursday with a really good friend. As we were leaving the Javitz, we walked by Claudio Sanchez, his Wife Chondra and their manager Blaze. I waved and said hey to which Claudio and Chonny said hi in response.
When we were a little further away, my friend sean turns to me and asks if that was and I quote "that claudio guy" to which I laughed and said yes. He asked me if they were being nice or if they actually knew me. I shook me head and told him of course they know me and that I'd been talking to them every NYCC I went to for the last couple years.
Later that day I told Chonny about the conversation when I saw them again at the show, she laughed and told me that right after we walked by she turned to Blaze and told him who I was. It's awesome moments like that that make a con for me.
