So I've finished the issue and I have to say that I didn't really see these events coming. I guess I didn't really think a lot about the fact that not only Wotan but also Donas chose Karic to be their champion. So now he represents both light and darkness, order and chaos, creator and destroyer...? I think this sets up the story for a myriad of next options and I'm very interested to see how he will continue to balance between both. I mean, he did just cut up a bunch of animal gods...

The gods were also very interesting. The stated that their essence were made up by the dreams of their race so I wonder what happens when you attack (and defeat) them. Would the animals they represent dream less? Or perhaps they would have nightmares? Interesting...

I also thought it was nice to see some other animals come into play represented through their gods. I don't think we've seen scorpions, eagles and deer yet so that was a nice change too.

The gods stated that Karic would destroy the world they knew and I guess that's going to happen in any case. The world they know has a mad mouse-king with an army of rats and weasels slowly killing of all mice (or at least a lot of them). This balance will be upset no matter which path Karic chooses to take as he also changes the beliefs of all those around him. We've seen plenty of mice now starting to form a resistance and fight for their cause. Not because they will gain from it personally (generally it has ended badly for quite a few of them) but because it's the right thing to do.

Last thing, I though the issue ended on a bit of a dark note. When Karic proclaimed that he would 'take back everything that was rightfully his' it got me thinking a bit. That's a dark path to go down and I'm pretty sure this will mean that Karic will have to reflect on the choices he has made and the consequences of those choices. Dark times ahead indeed! Looking forward to what the next issues hold in store!
