I would love a collected edition soft or hardcover. If it is soft covered you can always rebind it with the artwork from the cover if you want a hardcover edition.

Doesn't look like we'll be doing a hardcover version of D5. Hardcovers are really expensive to produce, and after talking to Eric Stephenson about it, we're just not sure there's enough of an audience to support it. We MIGHT do a big softcover collecting the entire series in a single, full-color volume. But a hardcover isn't feasible.

What's the likelihood of the D5 Annual and Holiday Special being included in such a collection?

IF we do a big softcover, it'll include everything -- the annual and holiday special included.

Any chance of the Notorious back-ups being included?

I doubt it, but we haven't talked about the softcover in awhile so I don't know if it's happening.

You know what would be a nice little extra for the softcover? The original pitch.

I'm not even sure if a pitch exists. I think I just verbally pitched the book to Image and got Mahmud to draw up some character designs and off we went.

Is the softcover looking likely? Or will it never see the light of day...what would need to happen in order for it to be possible?

I'm not all that crazy about the idea of a softcover, honestly. It was suggested as an alternative by Eric Stephenson, when he said he didn't think a hardcover would be profitable. But we've already got softcover trade paperbacks -- I don't really see how a single softcover collecting all the trades would be seen as a huge improvement. It would be the same dimensions (in terms of page size, etc.) as the trades. What I liked about a hardcover is the idea of doing it oversized.

There weren't enough people interested in the last one. I don't think a new mini would sell any better.
