Doesn't look like they're still available, but I'll see if I can find out...

Not sure whether this is great minds thinking alike or not but thought it was interesting to check out:

Concept seems somewhat similar to Dynamo 5.

Once again, I propose a group reading and discussion. Anyone interested?

I would be, but I'm a tax accountant and it's tax season so I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up with this and my new comic reading.

We can start with the first seven issues (or Vol 1., if you got the trade like I did).

Okay, starting with Vol 1: Post-Nuclear Family. Thoughts:

- Jay does a good job establishing the characters and their personalities. Hector is the geek, Livvie is the overachiever, Spencer is the wiseguy and ladies' man, Gage is the jock.

- The twist about Maddie basically being Lois Lane: Agent of SHIELD shocked me, but made sense. How else would an investigative reporter know how to whip five young superhumans into fighting shape? And the "strategy" of getting them to bond is pretty effective.

- Right away, Bridget seems kinda set up to be the Wolverine of Dynamo 5, i.e. the character who's not the leader but the most popular.

- Liked how Spencer seemed to resent Captain Dynamo, which would probably be natural.

- Issues five through seven was subtitled "The Chrysalis Affair", both a sort of spy-thriller type title and a theme of the arc. Super-villain trappings aside, Chrysalis was basically the mistress who deludes herself into thinking her married lover will leave his wife for her, only for the truth to come crashing down.

- I get the idea that FLAG is kind of a dirtier SHIELD. On a personal note, Sandy is of course a smarmy ass. I got a bit of a joy when Augie punched him out.

- Slight nitpick: when Gage is reading girls' minds, one refers to him as "good looking". Personally, I think a teenage girl would say (or think) "hot", rather than "good looking", but that's just me.
