So I finally sat down and read the whole Wolf-man series and have to admit that I didn´t give the book the credit it deserves. That might be because I started late and then missed a couple of issues and never finished it. The books I had so far dealt mostly with The Face and he is the one thing I wish they had done better. That character is just wack. With my collection now finally being complete (aside from a couple variants) it was great to read the thing in one setiing and I´ve really fallen in love with Jason Howards artwork. Great stuff.
Jason is an awesome artist. Too bad I never connected to the story.
For me Wolfman was a huge disappointment.
I was a newbie who had jumped onto The Walking Dead & Invincible and became an instant Kirkmaniac. I was desperate for him to release a new series that I could jump onto from issue 1.
When he announced Wolfman I was really excited for it but it really let me down.
Whilst Jason Howard is clearly talented I just couldn’t make a connection between the artwork and the story. It felt too cartoony, lacked detail and for the gorey or shocking scenes it just didn’t have the effect it cried out for.
I felt that as soon as his origin had been explained the story seriously suffered. The supporting characters were poor and The Face was probably one of the worst villains I’ve ever come across.
It reminded me that Kirkman is human after all! (along with GOTG)
