Can't believe no one is down here talking about The Intrepids or Green Wake.

Both excellent books!

Whoa, my bad! I've focused all of my Green Wake comments in the Shadowline forum. I hope more people notice this creator forum is here and start posting it up.

I'll keep pimping Green Wake to everyone and encourage them to get more conversation going in here

NYCC is too far away from Nebraska. But I do plan on going to C2E2 next year.

Likewise, I live in the Twin Cities so an NYC trip for a con isn't all that practical for me. I hope you get some serious booth traffic though!

Well, the plan is to have a few con exclusives, which I'm putting together plans for at the moment. One I'm just piecing together is an exclusive script book, the concept is I only ever print out X number of scripts, which I personally sign and have them nicely bound with the original cover from that issue.

My novel is coming out soon, too, so that will help with sales.

Cool! Do you have any links to information on your novel yet? I'm very interested in learning more about it because I enjoy well-written books and I always thought your Green Wake scripts read a lot like literature. I'd also like to hear about some of your favorite books are too - it seems like you're influenced by pretty great ones.

Is NYCC the only con you're doing Kurtis? And if so, do you think some of those Con exclusive could be made available to your faithful board members?

I'd definitely consider selling any material I put together over email, if there was interest. I'm trying as many things as I can to promote myself and connect with fans, as it's something I really enjoy. Cons are a lot of fun, I love talking to people, for real.

I just sent in my first draft of edits this morning. There hasn't been any official announcement from the publisher, I'm not sure if they're waiting for the cover to be finished, and they're wanting me to come up with a new title as well, that might be the hold up. There should be news soon, though.

Truthfully, I haven't read a novel in awhile. I've been flat out busy for a few years now and the only reading I get in is comics, at the moment. I'm pretty near shaving 40 hours a week off my current 80 hour schedule as some potentially lucrative side writing projects are on the horizon, maybe then I can get back to reading a lot more.

Film is a pretty huge influence on me, though. I recently watched this Norwegian film called The Bothersome Man, and it was so goddamn good. It parallels Green Wake a lot, but it's almost an absurdist, black comedy.

Kurtis, I hope the success of Green Wake and other projects help you bring down the massive workload. I'm usually only at about 45 hours/week and still feel like I don't have as much time as I'd like to read :geek:

I added The Bothersome Man to my Netflix streaming queue and will give it a viewing, it definitely sounds like my thing. I personally identify strongly as an absurdist so I'm sure I'll find lots to like. I know you don't have loads of time to read and I don't want to be "that guy," dropping too many suggestions on people who won't be able to follow up on them, but I would suggest one book to you if you haven't already read it: Hunger by Knut Hamsun (1859 - 1952). The Penguin Classics Edition (apparently the definitive translation) is an absurdist treasure.

Why I think you'd like Hunger:
- It's a deep psychological examination of a totally insane, poor and starving individual (who also happens to be the narrator)
- The narrator seems to be conscious in a dark, parallel world while bumbling through the "normal" world
- It's loaded with absurdist elements and dark humor
- It's beautifully written
- It's brief (excluding forewards, notes, etc, the actual story is under 200 pages)
- It's Norwegian (a nice tie-in with your experience of The Bothersome Man)

I strongly suggest you check it out when you think you can take on a new book: http://www.amazon.com/Hunger-Penguin-Twentieth-Century-Classics-Hamsun/dp/0141180641/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1312904733&sr=1-1
