Is that Wendy or Tinkerbell on that cover? Either way it looks great.

Awesome! That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to check. Either way it's a fantastic cover, and I'm getting more excited for the first issue to come out.

So Kurtis, can you give us any hints as to what kinds of tricks the Nazi-Pirates will have up their hooked handed sleeves? Will there be any borderline super science hijinks sorta like what we saw from the Nazis in Hell Boy?

No, we're playing this series a little bit more straight, a bit grounded in reality. The only fantastical elements will come out through the shift in the narrative. If you see the preview pages, there's an old man being interviewed. That person will change every arc (if we last that long, god willing) and will change the way the story is visualized. Less fantasy or more, darker or lighter. All depends who's telling it.

Cool. I think that's a good strategy to make the more fantastical story elements involving Peter and the Lost Boys seem more exciting.

Read my copy of Peter Panzerfaust #1 today over lunch. I really liked it - I think this title shows a lot of promise as an ongoing story. The Band of Brothers-meets fairy tale mashup format works very well and I think it could be worked to evoke effective emotional impact. (I can see Kurtis trying to crush us emotionally in future issues  )

The artwork too drew me in (pun intended). Tyler Jenkins' artistic style is really unique and does for Peter Panzerfaust what Riley Rossmo did for Green Wake or what Jeff Lemire does on Sweet Tooth. Peter Panzerfaust has a unique visual style that sets it apart from most of the other stuff on the comic shop racks.

The only bump in the road for my reading experience was at the end, which seemed a little abrupt. [...MINOR SPOILERS...] After the last page with Peter shouting "AHROOOOOO!!!" my brain was expecting more pages and there were none - it was kind of like having the plug pulled from my TV set. Maybe it's because I'm not an expert comic reader and I need a "TO BE CONTINUED" in the last panel, hahaha :P

But long story short, congrats and job well done to the Peter Panzerfaust creative team - you're off to a great start!
