After a one month hiatus that felt like 3 months, Green Wake is back! Post your thoughts on the latest issue here. I unfortunately can't read it until I get home from work, but it's definitely at the top of my "To Do" list.

It goes without saying that there will be spoilers from issue 6 in this thread, but I said it anyway.

So, I could spoil it for you right now, Euge? ;)

We've been getting a pile of awesome reviews, so I'm hoping the fans like it as much as the reviewers!

I'd never let that happen, Kurtis!

Why? Because I already finished the # 6 and wow, story and art quality hasn't missed a beat. The new antagonist, Micah is very interesting and has so far been a good vehicle to better understand how Green Wake works. More than ever before, I feel like I have a decent grip on things - that said, I'm sure this familiarity will get ripped out and turned upside down before long. That already applies to how time works with the year people think they've "arrived" in Green Wake as well as the "Green Wake time" that elapsed while Morley was gone (experienced by Krieger) versus the very different "real world time" that elapsed (experienced by Morley). While we haven't seen much of her, I have a feeling I'm going to like Esther, but right now that's mostly based on her character design, which looks absolutely fantastic. I hope Esther can become a long-ish term female protagonist, which was missing in the first arc.

It still feels great to get back into the world of Green Wake. The writing and art together make this absolutely one of the strongest and best comics out there. You're sorely missing out if you're not reading this.

Was able to get mine and read it....loved it.

I like how you brought Morley back without really getting too far in to how he came back.

Of courses Riley's art continues to be great for the series. And I'm liking the new additions to the cast.

Those little kids creep me the hell out though.

The kids look to only get creepier if you've seen the cover to #7. Looks like things will get pretty demented. I wonder if future issues will have flashbacks of Morley in the "real" world.

The final page of Issue 7 features those lovable kiddos doing some VERY strange things. You think they're creepy now. HAH.

The focus of the narrative now is only Green Wake and uncovering her secrets. We won't be getting any Morley flashbacks in the near future, but get ready for some other characters to have their backgrounds exposed.

I really liked your choice as to how Morley ended up back in Green Wake. It was something that kept me wondering during the time between #5 and #6 and I feel you handled it very well. It's akin to ex-cons and how oftentimes they leave prison only to feel a void and not know how to deal with the real world outside. Excellent work.

Also, the first few pages with the children and the snow were just beautiful. I don't know why but the colors and the mood just blew me away.

I agree that the art was especially breathtaking in Green Wake #6. I really like it when Riley draws things to be atmospheric and abstract so much of the time, but other times he'll draw with deliberate striking clarity. It's great to have this visual disorientation for much of an issue and then lock right onto something/someone that's drawn to be a fog-cutting focal point (such as Esther).

Thanks, guys.

The nice thing about working with Riley is that often I can let his art do the talking. I was a little unsure if opening this issue with three pages of silence was a good idea in the scripting phase, but when the art came in, I knew it worked.

I love giving Riley those chances, and I think some people really underestimate how talented of a storyteller he is. Look back through Green Wake #1-6 and see how many pages are completely silent and he carries the mood. There are frequently 2-3 pages in a row, and that is no small feat to pull off.

It could also be because I don't want to write dialog. :)
