Just read my copy of Green Wake 7 -- another truly fantastic issue! Riley's disorienting art was gorgeous to look at as usual. The first few pages of #7 with Micah's narrative on religion and free will were written so exceptionally well, it was really more like reading a good novel than a comic (which is intended as a great compliment, of course).
Another highlight for me was the story Ishum was telling Morley in the burning church. The new details that have come to light about the origins of Green Wake really open up new possibilities. Also, I have to say the little touches that added flames and burn marks to Ishum's word boxes on those two pages were really clever.
Final thought:
what an effed up ending! I loved it!!! I'll wait until others have a chance to read this before I get into *those* details
More than ever, Green Wake continues to prove itself as a "high art" comic book of the finest quality. Also, this issue features some bonus pages from Kurtis' upcoming book, Peter Panzerfaust. Just buy it!!
Hey Euge!
Thanks, super appreciate the lengthy thoughts on #7. I thought Riley really nailed the Ishum story, he was really hesitant to do a stain glass window style for the two page spread but, big surprise, he did an awesome job.
Also, the burning captions was my idea. Just something that struck me that might add a little immediacy to the narrative.
I'm excited about #8, the town starts to get a little chaotic and the ending is going to surprise you, I think. Thanks for the continual support, gents.
