Hey Alex. I got a ton of the new DC books which I have to say only 4 really caught my attention, I was honestly dissapointed and dissolusioned with two mini's I was collecting from Image. I have to say a book that blew me away just fell apart with it's finale, and have honest doubt it will see a second arc. The most consistant book I read in 2011 was Green Wake and for that I thank Riley and Kurtis. I reallllllllllllly miss Proof. I've lost my affinity for TWD and Invincible( I haven't bought a Vince in 8 months) Sina's L'il Depressed Boy was a bright spot but due to budgetary restraints got dropped after #3. Dropped Daredevil after #4 and the Spidey money grab (er I mean shipping schedule) turned me off of Marvel.

MJS can tell you what OLCS I was dealing with. They've consistantly been the single worst online retailer over the last 8 months and after the Owner's Stupid Nightmare Blog this past summer coupled with an ho-hum NYCC experience I'm just a little fed up and need to take a breather. PLEASE keep coming with your awesomeness Alex, as you've got yourself a huge fan in any medium. I have every intention to get a couple of copies of the Yard, mail you one to get signed and of course cant wait to see George and Snow find their way into print.

I'm FB buddies with most of you so I will continue to annoy you with trivial musings over the holidays, but I don't have the commitment to comics and comic-talk I had the last few years. Every passion gets rekindled with a little passage of time tho. So see you here soon.

Riley...save me some signed copies of that new Zombie Story. I think that'lll be the first thing I'll look for when I return. :)

I'm getting a bit burned out myself and I didn't even try all of the new 52.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling comics right now, EK.

I went through the same thing in the late 90's, and left the hobby for 6-7 years before really getting back into it a few years back. It was a combination of having lost interest, and financial reasons that caused me to stop collecting, but I've been back with a vengeance since.

I'm trying to stop buying books out of habit and instead buying them for how much I actually enjoy them. The collector / completist in me finds that tough, but I've found myself on occassions with a pile of new unread books that I really have zero interest in reading - many being purchased solely to keep the run intact.

I've also dumped off a ton of back issues lately, opting to trade in for hardcovers of the stuff I really enjoy, and trading the rest for store credit to spend on new stuff. My LCS is awesome for selling / trading back issues, so I've lucked out in that regard.

I miss Proof a whole lot too. I've yet to find a current book that offers the level of enjoyment that I drew from that series. Hopefully it's not too long before Alex and Riley are in a position to explore those characters again.

Next week (Jan 11th)'s buys - with another overwhelmingly Image week.

Dark Horse Comics

Strain #2 - Recently finished the first two novels in this series, so I'm interested to see how the comic adaptation plays out.

Image Comics

Activity #2 - I enjoyed #1 enough to come back for seconds... Nathan has yet to disappoint me, so odds are I'll stick with it.

Avengelyne #6 - I recently got the first 5 issues in the mail from writer Mark Poulton, and enjoyed what I read enough to keep with it. The upcoming Extreme relaunch has me interested in how this title will tie in as well.

Invincible #87 - Cory Walker = I'm buying it. (I would anyway, but it helps.)

Strange Talent of Luther Strode #4 - This mini has been a nice surprise (to many, by the sounds of it). I'm glad to hear there's more planned after the first series finishes.

Spawn #215 - Can't say enough good about the current team on Spawn, but I do find myself hoping the pace picks up a little bit sometime soon.

Marvel Comics

Amazing Spider-Man #677 - The title that I've been collecting the longest is teetering on the edge of being cut - but I don't think I can do it (especially since it crosses over with Daredevil #8 - which is conspicuous in its absence from Midtown's list for this week).

Secret Avengers #21 - The lone survivor of my recent Avengers cull. Well, it was cut, but then I bought #20 anyway (which was an absolutely fantastic time done-in-one travel yarn).

I'm still really liking ASM. People seemed to not really like the Vulture issues, but I enjoyed the story well enough and the Camuncolli art was excellent in it.

Green Wake is the latest book I've been reading. I still have #7 to go. Riley never disappoints. The story is making more sense to me now in this second arc and the first issue of the second arc did a really nice job of explaining everything.

This week for me....

GREEN WAKE #9 (second to last issue) very sad to see this book go, it was my favorite new series of 2011. I might be a curse on books, every time I really state my love the book disappears

JUSTICE LEAGUE #5 this book has been good but I am anxious to get through this first story arc, regardless I am a sucker for Jim Lee art

SECRET AVENGERS #21.1 I am buying this book exclusively on the love for UNCANNY X-FORCE and Remender's writing

TEEN TITANS #5 this has been my favorite new book of the New52. The art from Brett Booth is breathtaking and the story has been fun. Win-win

THE WALKING DEAD #93 great issue and I love where the book is going now
