I have to admit that is pretty awesome. Is McFarlane drawing this issue?

No. Just writing and cover. I heard he was writing it since 201 under a pen name. Wonder if there is something to it.

I know this probably will never happen, but I would love to see McFarlane draw comics again on a regular basis. My first comic I bought was drawn by him and his artwork has always been the top of my list.

When Erik drew an issue of Spawn (it was #199, right?), I remember thinking that if Erik did an arc on Spawn (art *and* writing), I'd start buying the book for the first time since I don't know when. But then I thought it would probably never happen. And now Erik's doing Supreme and Savage Dragon at the same time, so... who knows?

I stopped collecting Spawn when Capullo left with issue 100. If somehow Erik took over the book I'd be back in a second. Then again, if Erik took over any book I'd be there in a second.

I like how the cape is positioned to look like a 5-segmented fin.

McFarlane did another cover that's an homage to Youngblood #1 apparently, I'm curious to see that one too

I have not read Spawn in a while. I loved David Hine's run, and started the Jim Dowling story, but due to all the delays, I lost interest. I am going to pick this up. Looks like a good jumping on point.

I know I did! The last issue of Spawn I bought before that was the tie-in with SD #30 (I can't remember the issue number). I stopping buying Spawn on a regular basis somewhere between #15 and 20, I think.
