Just read my copy - Rebel Blood #1 was an interesting read. I too was a bit confused at first as to what was happening and what wasn't - once things started repeating and eventually got into the comedic zone I figured it out. It seems like Chuck is more like Bruce Campbell in Evil Dead than Rick Grimes in TWD - kind of a tragic character with some comic relief worked in.

Anyway, Rebel Blood was cool enough to have me pick up #2, the biggest selling point for this title overall is Riley's disorienting and churning artwork, which is amazing as usual.

Now that you mention it Chuck is kind of a bit more like Bruce than Rick, Issue two and three have similar amounts of lightness amongst the horror. Chucks got pretty big issues. Wait till he has to deal with the infected humans in #2.

I loved the action hero-style cutscenes that took place in his mind. I mean, who among us here hasn't done that? Being faced with a situation and in your mind imagined the most favorable outcome that makes you a hero. I thought it was a great narrative and really look forward to the rest of the story.

I hope Chuck's boomstick has unlimited ammo

Congrats on #1 selling out, Riley!

Really enjoyed the first issue. This is, as I feel Green Wake was, a book tailor-made to show off the strengths of your art (it should be since you came up with the concept, i guess :P ).

Anyway, great job, and I'm looking forward to #2.

Yeah, that's pretty awesome - I'm glad people are getting on board with animal zombie mayhem. Here's the second printing cover (so rad):

This required a second reading on my part. I was a little lost the first time. I was actually lost at the transition from the flashback to the fire chief and the flashback to Chuck's home life. I thought the chief was addressing him as "Melissa," and I thought, "Wait, that's a woman who fell off the building?" And then, I was thinking his wife was Melissa. The second time through, it was completely clear and I went from, "I don't know about this" to being a fan. The homecoming fantasies were great, especially the one where he turns it into fodder for his song.

I thought for a moment that Melissa was the wolf chow, but I think Chuck would have freaked out a bit more and wouldn't have been fantasizing about her in the one fantasy.
