Communication is at least a two way street. If you understand what I am really asking, why penalize me for not being perfect? In the situation at the warehouse both of us were being ass-hats. He gave me a snarky answer and instead of ignoring it and asking a better question I insulted him back. In my opinion both of us were being stupid. Lately I have been trying to be a little more understanding though. Sometimes people are a little shy about asking for themselves where the bathrooms are. Hell, I managed to get into trouble while visiting a client company. Here is my exact question, "Can you tell me where the rest room is?" the woman answered, "Sure, I could." then ignored me. Technically she was right. I didn't really ask her to tell me where the bathrooms where, only if she had the ability to tell me where they where. Since I was the one to decide if her company would be included in the upcoming business deal we were working on, I decided right then and there they were all done. I don't work with assholes. So she managed to lose a sweet deal for her company because she decided to treat me like an ass rather than have a smidgen of understanding and respect.
I get that... and as a server I get paid by these people that im being rude to. Which is why I always answer with a smile... it comes across as a joke and not as me being rude or insulting. But I still walk away thinking... what a fucking stupid question.
